Audio & Entertainment Systems Across the Northeast

Fill every room, zone, and outdoor space with professional-grade audio — managed from the same dashboard as your network, cameras, and access control. PoE-powered, zero subscription fees.

For 18 years, Software Que has been designing and installing complete technology ecosystems for homes and businesses across the Northeast. Audio and entertainment is a natural extension of the UniFi infrastructure we deploy — and with UniFi's PoE-powered amplifiers, we can now deliver professional multi-zone audio systems that run on the same network as your cameras, access control, and Wi-Fi, all managed from a single dashboard. No separate audio receivers. No proprietary control panels. No monthly subscription fees.

The UniFi Amplifier is the centerpiece of every audio system we install. Unlike traditional audio setups that require a dedicated receiver, amplifier rack, and separate control system, the UniFi Amplifier is a compact, PoE-powered device that connects to your network with a single ethernet cable. That one cable delivers power, audio signal, and network management simultaneously. Mount it behind a wall, above a ceiling tile, or in a utility closet — it drives a pair of speakers with clean, room-filling sound, and you control volume, source selection, and scheduling from the UniFi OS app on your phone or laptop.

For restaurants, bars, and hospitality venues, zone-based audio control is a game-changer. Imagine your dining room playing soft jazz, your bar area pumping upbeat lounge tracks, and your outdoor patio running laid-back acoustic sets — all simultaneously, all controlled from one app. Each zone gets its own UniFi Amplifier, and you can adjust volume, change sources, and set schedules independently. During happy hour, the bar volume goes up automatically. After close, the system mutes itself. Volume scheduling eliminates the 'who turned the music up too loud?' problem that plagues every restaurant manager.

Retail stores benefit from background music that enhances the shopping experience, combined with announcement capability for store-wide pages — 'Attention shoppers, we're closing in 15 minutes' — without needing a separate PA system. The UniFi Amplifier's integration with horn speakers means you can use the same network infrastructure for background music, announcements, and even security alerts. If a UniFi Protect camera detects motion after hours, the system can automatically trigger an alert through the speakers — a powerful deterrent that's included in the platform at no extra cost.

For homes, whole-home audio means music follows you from room to room. The kitchen gets a ceiling-mounted speaker pair for morning news and cooking playlists. The living room gets higher-end architectural speakers for movie night and entertaining. The master bedroom gets subtle, hidden speakers for ambient sound. The pool and patio get outdoor-rated, weatherproof speakers that handle New England winters and Mid-Atlantic summers. Each zone is independent — your teenager's music stays in their room, your dinner party playlist stays in the dining room, and the backyard gets whatever the grill master wants.

Office environments use our audio systems for two critical functions: ambient background sound and paging. Open-plan offices benefit from subtle background music or white noise that improves focus and masks conversations, reducing distractions without being intrusive. Conference rooms get dedicated audio for video calls and presentations. And the paging function lets office managers make building-wide announcements without a dedicated intercom system — it runs through the same speakers that handle the background music.

Hotels and hospitality venues love the scalability. Lobby music, pool area audio, conference room sound, and hallway announcements all run on the same UniFi infrastructure. Gyms and fitness studios get high-energy zone audio with the headroom to fill a large workout space. Houses of worship use multi-zone distribution to carry sermon audio from the main sanctuary to overflow rooms, nurseries, and outdoor gathering areas — all synchronized, all managed centrally.

Every speaker we install is selected for the environment. Indoor installations use architectural and ceiling-mounted speakers that blend into the design. Outdoor installations use weatherproof, UV-resistant speakers rated for year-round Northeast exposure. Hidden speaker options are available for clients who want premium sound without visible hardware — we work with architects and interior designers to integrate audio seamlessly into the space. All of it connects back to your UniFi OS dashboard, where you manage audio alongside your cameras, Wi-Fi, and access control — one platform, one app, zero monthly fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play different music in different rooms/zones?

Yes — each zone gets its own UniFi Amplifier and speaker pair, and every zone operates independently. You can play jazz in the dining room, rock in the bar, and acoustic on the patio, all at the same time with individual volume control. Zone grouping is also available if you want multiple areas playing the same source in sync. Everything is controlled from the UniFi OS app on your phone or laptop.

How does the audio system connect to my UniFi network?

Each UniFi Amplifier connects to your network with a single ethernet cable that delivers both power (via PoE) and data. The amplifier appears in your UniFi OS dashboard alongside your access points, cameras, and switches. If you already have a UniFi network, adding audio is as simple as running an ethernet cable to each zone and mounting the amplifier. No separate audio receiver, no dedicated controller, no additional apps.

Can speakers also be used for security announcements?

Absolutely. The UniFi platform integrates audio with your security system. You can configure automatic announcements triggered by camera events — for example, if motion is detected after hours, a pre-recorded warning plays through the speakers. You can also use horn speakers for live announcements or emergency alerts. This integration is built into the platform at no extra cost, eliminating the need for a separate PA or paging system.

What about outdoor speakers for my patio or pool?

We install outdoor-rated, weatherproof speakers designed to withstand rain, snow, UV exposure, and temperature extremes across the Northeast. These speakers are connected to PoE-powered amplifiers just like indoor zones, so they're managed from the same app. We select speakers rated for the specific environment — coastal properties get corrosion-resistant models, while covered patios can use standard outdoor units. Sound coverage is designed for the space, so your pool area gets even, room-filling audio without dead spots.

Do I need separate equipment for each zone?

Each zone requires one UniFi Amplifier and a pair of speakers. The amplifier is a compact, PoE-powered device — no bulky receiver or amp rack needed. For a typical home with 4-6 zones, that's 4-6 small amplifiers, each powered by a single ethernet cable. There's no central audio rack required. For larger commercial installations with 10+ zones, we design the system architecture during our free assessment to ensure optimal performance and manageability.
